We are launching Faces of Data Mesh, a YouTube interview series to highlight the individuals and teams in our community. The goal of the series is to showcase members of our community (YOU!) and facilitate discussion around why (and how) you're embarking on your data mesh journeys - whether that is implementation or just learning.
Why?
We want to make everyone feel welcome and part of the community. We want to put faces to names. Also, by talking about why you've decided to join the community, we can better understand how this group can better serve your needs. Additionally, it helps members from across industries, geographies, and roles get to know each other.
How?
By interviewing each other so we can post on our YouTube channel. You can 1) sign-up for an interview with Scott Hirleman, 2) do a recorded interview yourself with our questions, or 3) the most fun one: interview each other! Interviews can go much deeper than our prepared questions if people want but just a few minutes of you talking about what you want to get out of data mesh and why it interests you would be awesome. Just think about how many potential friends or colleagues you haven’t met yet 😎😀
Question List
This list will evolve over time FYI but here’s a start (and feel free to add your own):
0) Start with your name and maybe (read: only if you want) a fun fact about you
1) What’s your background and current role?
2) What first interested you about data mesh?
3) What are the areas or ideas you want to learn more about regarding data mesh?
4) What has been the most useful resource in getting up to speed? E.g. Zhamak’s talks, reading specific content, interacting with people, actually implementing a data mesh, etc.
5) What is your recommendation for someone just starting learning about data mesh? Can be anything really, content or a mindset or a pitfall to avoid or advice.
6) Do you have one piece of data/analytics content / book / video / etc. that isn’t specific to data mesh you think everyone should read/watch?
7) Anything else you think the data mesh community really needs to know?
8) If you want, where can people find you?
Specifics
We will put a disclaimer card at the front stating you represent only yourself and not your company/companies. And if you want people to follow you, we will add that in the details section of the video.
We will upload to the Data Mesh Learning YouTube. If you want it pulled down at any point, please let us know and we’ll do it, no questions asked.
Please do not use music or anything in the video (we do not want a copyright strike 😅).
If you want Scott to interview you, just reach out to community@datameshlearning.com. This will be replaced with an auto-scheduling calendar soon but the service was having issues…
You can point Scott to a Zoom (or whatever) recording to download and upload if you do it yourself or interview each other. If you need a Zoom link to use for this, please contact Scott.
